Uncle of two girls investigated for child pornography after photos of his nieces were banned.

He is accused of taking dozens of pornographic photos under the skirts of his nieces, the daughters of his brothers, while he was taking the girls out in various parts of Cagliari. But that's not all. He also allegedly took photos of other unknown girls in parks, then used the images to create virtual child pornography photomontages, which he exchanged online with other people in exchange for further child pornography files. And after a search by Postal Police officers, ordered by prosecutor Rita Cariello, the man was investigated for being in possession of a large amount of child pornography. Having requested pre-trial detention, the preliminary investigations judge reportedly only granted him a restraining order from approaching his nieces.
The arrest. The decision taken in recent weeks by the Cagliari Court's investigating judge's office, in opposition to the prosecutor's request for prison, is likely to spark controversy. The judge has decided to apply a much lighter precautionary measure than that requested against a man under investigation for possession and production of child pornography. According to the few leaks on the matter, the girls' uncle was reported by Interpol through online infiltration systems and, after a search, was found in possession of a large quantity of sexually explicit images, many of which were produced by taking photos of his nieces and another girl, the daughter of a friend. The man apparently filmed them playing with other girls outdoors, wandering around the city, and photographing their private parts. Investigators also found photos of other girls, taken around Cagliari, which he then used to create, with the help of adults, a series of scandalous photomontages shared with other pedophiles online. It was precisely this internet activity that triggered the report and the raid by the Postal Police.
The investigation. Having discovered all the child pornography, including material involving other minors, Deputy Prosecutor Cariello requested a precautionary prison sentence, but the investigating judge simply ordered a ban on contact with the nieces. The story is told in general terms and without mentioning the suspect's name or other specific details, solely out of the need to protect the identity of the girls, daughters of the suspect's brothers, as much as possible.
