Maria Lai's work “The tangle wall” was inaugurated this morning, after the conservative restoration. Created in 2004, on the concrete of a retaining wall of a road leading to the Su Marmuri caves, the work has returned to its original splendor.

In 2018, more than eleven thousand people voted in the census of Maria Lai's Open Air Museum as a place of their heart, making it the most voted asset on the island. After the extraordinary result and the participation of the Municipality of Ulassai in the tender which allows projects to be nominated in favor of the places with the most votes after each edition of the census, Fai and Intesa Sanpaolo supported the restoration of the "Wall" with 24 thousand euros.

The work was chosen because it had an absolute need for recovery as well as general deterioration, large portions had fallen, to the point of compromising the reading of the work itself in some sections. Many parts were raised, favoring water infiltration, and there was a risk of losing the work without timely intervention. The restoration, made possible by "The Places of the Heart" and the co-financing of the Municipality, made it possible to save the "Tangle Wall", which was cleaned, restored and consolidated.

Great satisfaction for the conclusion of the precious intervention was expressed by the vice mayor Luigi Deidda and the president of Fai Sardegna Monica Scanu. Present this morning were the director of works Francesco Pusceddu and the Rup Claudia Puddu. School groups from the town also participated in the inauguration and were able to follow a guided tour together with museum guide Damiano Rossi.
