There are thousands of tweets dedicated today to Albert Einstein: on the occasion of the 143th anniversary of his birth, March 14, 1879, the father of the theory of relativity and one of the pioneers of quantum physics is remembered as a symbol of peace.

"I have no idea what weapons will be needed to fight World War III, but the fourth will be fought with sticks and stones", is one of the most recent quotes on Twitter, as well as "War cannot be humanized, it can only be abolished. ", with clear references to the war in Ukraine.

A convinced pacifist from an early age, Einstein refused to sign a pro-war manifesto in 1913 that was proposed by a good number of German scientists. When, later, he moved to the United States due to persecution against Jews, he had quite a few difficulties with the American government due to its anti-war positions.

Together with the philosopher Bertrand Russell, Einstein wrote a manifesto in 1955, signed by 11 other very important scientists, in which the whole world was invited to come together to discuss the enormous risks due to the existence of nuclear weapons.
