Symphonies and opera interludes to help the war-affected populations of Ukraine.

It was an evening of solidarity and strong emotions, with long and warm applause, that which took place last night in Cagliari.

The "Concerto per la pace" gathered a large audience, over 600 spectators, at the Pierluigi da Palestrina conservatory. An appointment wanted and organized by the Teatro Lirico of Cagliari.

In support of the action undertaken at the national level by the Italian Red Cross, the public was invited to subscribe to the fundraising campaign for the emergency in Ukraine aimed at the most urgent needs and requirements of the population.

From the stage, through the notes of Beethoven, Verdi, Mascagni and Rossini, a message of universal brotherhood has come.

The "Extraordinary Concert for Peace" was conceived and organized by the Teatro Lirico of Cagliari in collaboration with the Municipality and the Conservatory.

"Cagliari has responded to the invitation to solidarity - underlined the superintendent Nicola Colabianchi - the participation was important. I also thank the orchestra of the Opera, as well as the maestro Giuseppe Finzi, for the sensitivity and availability shown".

On the podium Giuseppe Finzi led the Lirico orchestra in the performance of famous and appreciated scores. The concert opened with an absolute masterpiece in the history of music, Beethoven's Fifth. Then it was the turn of the Symphonies by Luisa Miller and Verdi's Nabucco. The evening then proposed the Intermezzi from L'amico Fritz and Cavalleria rusticana by Mascagni and in the final, in an enthralling "crescendo" of intensity, the famous symphony from Rossini's Guillaume Tell. Prolonged clapping and ovations were addressed to the orchestra and to Maestro Finzi, an appreciated Apulian conductor engaged in Cagliari in the rehearsals of Verdi's “Ernani”, the third title of the season of Opera and Ballet, scheduled from 9 to 16 April.
