A central figure of Sassari culture in the second half of the 19th and early 20th centuries, the poet and writer Pompeo Calvia will be remembered tomorrow at 5pm with a round table in the Municipal Historical Archive of Sassari , in via Insinuazione. The event, organized by the Aristeo Cultural Circle in collaboration with the archive, is entitled “ Pompeo Calvia (1857-1919). Perspectives of study and valorisation. The hunchbacks found ”.

Simonetta Castia, president of the Circolo Aristeo, will present a preview of the two hunchbacks found: "The seven candlesticks" and "The house of Michele Zanche", translated into Italian from the original Sassarese.

The gobbule , characteristic Sassari poems of a satirical-augural nature , are part of the conspicuous archival-literary fund which gave birth to a project of reorganization, study and recovery of Calvia's family papers and still unpublished autographs, preparatory to the edition of the writings and to the re-reading of the production, by express will of the author's nephew, Antonio Mario Siotto, who recently passed away.

The importance of this priceless archival-literary legacy – and the centrality of the figure of Pompeo Calvia for Sassari's popular culture – will be traced by Carla Merella , head of the city archive, and the architect Sergio Ticca , curator of the “Siotto-Calvia ”.
