Twenty-two years of backlogs, a nightmare for almost 50,000 Sardinians
The "scrapping" opened by the government to settle debts with the tax authorities
Tax records (old and new) to be paid form for the Sardinians - almost 50 thousand - a veritable mountain of debts . The government has tried four times since 2016 to settle payments in installments, without penalties or interest. And the latest test is this year's with the Quater scrapping: it is open to taxpayers who received a tax notice in the period between 1 January 2000 and 30 June 2022.
In Sardinia, those interested in paying off their debts to the tax authorities should reach 50 thousand, but the exact number will be understood in the coming months, when the applications for membership will arrive at the Revenue Agency offices.
Whether or not this attempt by the state is successful will depend on various factors, including the economic possibilities of families.
Alberto Vacca, president of the Order of Cagliari accountants, is optimistic: « Scrapping always attracts great interest from taxpayers. The latter in particular offers ample deferment in five years, thus guaranteeing greater possibilities for repaying the debt".
