Two days of meetings, debates and training sessions, hosted in the “Filippo Canu” conference hall, in Porto Torres with the international conference "Navigium Isidis: oriental cults in Turris Libisonis between port life and cultural exchanges". The Municipality of Porto Torres - Department of Culture - and the Study Center of Egyptology and Coptic Civilization "JFChampollion" based in Genoa and Cairo organized the event in collaboration with the Regional Directorate of Sardinia Museums and the Abap Superintendency for the Provinces of Sassari and Nuoro with the aim of promoting and enhancing the study of the Colonia Iulia Turris Libisonis and its relationships with Egypt and the Eastern Mediterranean, highlighting the key role of the ancient city of Porto Torres in trade and the diffusion of oriental cults during the era imperial.

Over thirty scholars will take part, including experts on Egyptian and oriental cults, epigraphists, archaeological officials of the Superintendence and university professors from all over Sardinia and the rest of Italy. The conference will start at 9.30 with institutional greetings from the mayor of Porto Torres Massimo Mulas, from the Abap Superintendent for the provinces of Sassari and Nuoro Bruno Billeci, from the regional director of the Museums of Sardinia Francesco Muscolino and from the magnificent rector of the University of Sassari Gavino Mariotti who will then leave the floor to the speakers.

The conference is open to the public and, for the occasion, the Antiquarium Turritano in via Ponte Romano, on the afternoon of March 5, will invite all participants to take part in guided tours of the museum and the spa area of the neighboring archaeological complex. Furthermore, special initiatives have been designed for the little ones. Two workshops reserved for 30 girls and boys aged 5 to 10 will take place from 5pm to 6.30pm: “Let's color Roman masks” curated by Alessandra Carrieri and “Let's play with Egyptian amulets” curated by Angela Demontis. The request for participation was massive, so much so that in just a few hours the maximum number of admitted participants was reached.

The event underlines, once again, the centrality of the Turrito territory in the large Mediterranean area that unites peoples, cultures and traditions. A bond that has led the Municipality of Porto Torres to join the international circuit of "The Phoenicians' Route", one of the forty-seven international cultural itineraries recognized by the Program of the Council of Europe, thanks to which places of ancient origin become stages of a journey along the entire Mediterranean through which to exchange knowledge and experiences and enhance, in a tourist and sustainable way, the cultural, naturalistic and archaeological heritage of the countries joining the Route.
