The MAMA Museum in Atzara will host tomorrow, Friday 30 May at 6:30 pm, the official presentation of “Tundhimentas, sheep shearing in Sardinia”, a photographic project by Francesco Pintore, who through visual language conveys all the strength, effort and poetry of one of the oldest and most identifying rites of Sardinian pastoral culture: sheep shearing.
An intense reportage that combines aesthetic and documentary value, capturing with an authentic gaze the gestures, faces and atmosphere of a world often invisible but fundamental to the memory and economy of the Island.
Massimo Locci, a breeder and expert in the pastoral world, will be in conversation with the author and will offer a first-hand account of the cultural, social and environmental implications of the practice of shearing today.
On the occasion of the presentation, the photographic exhibition connected to the work will be inaugurated, which will remain open to visitors in the museum rooms for the following weeks, offering the public a selection of the best shots taken from the reportage.
An event that blends art, tradition and territory, aimed at all those who want to rediscover - through the lens of Francesco Pintore - the profound value of an ancient gesture, rooted in the identity of Sardinia.
