Trump “closes” borders to Canadians? “Pensioners, come and spend the winter in Sardinia”

"Canadian retirees, come and spend the cold months in Sardinia: you will always be welcome. The doors of our homes and our accommodations are always open."
The invitation to seniors in Canada comes from Sardinian “colleagues” through Anap Sardegna, the National Association of Seniors and Retirees of Confartigianato Sardegna , following the news that North American borders will be increasingly closed to those who spend the winter in the southern United States.
According to the new American rules of stay , Canadian travellers who will stay more than 30 days in the United States will have to register with the US authorities and provide their fingerprints with an evident increase in bureaucracy . The measure, which will mainly affect Canadian pensioners and seniors who winter in the warmth, will come into force on April 11. Hence the invitation of Confartigianato to Canadian pensioners: come and winter on the Island.
"Ours is intended to be a message of welcome, sharing and brotherhood, which aims to go beyond political issues - comments Giovanni Antonio Mellino , president of Anap Sardegna and National Vice President - but also an invitation to get to know our splendid island which has nothing to envy of the American states that overlook the ocean".
Anap Sardegna also recalls how «the Blue Zones can be important catalysts for these flows of retirees in search of excellent living and the elixir of long life. A flow of senior citizens like the Canadian one could encourage the continuous opening, even in the winter months, of hotel and non-hotel facilities, creating spin-offs and supporting the local productive fabric . We are already working, also with our national headquarters, to contact the Canadian retirees' associations to let them know that Sardinia opens its doors with warmth and hospitality - continues Mellino - because with its mild climate, rich history and vibrant culture, it is the ideal place for a prolonged stay away from the chaos of the metropolis , with the tranquility of the crystalline coasts and breathtaking landscapes».
This is not the first appeal from Sardinia to those “dissatisfied” with the Trump administration. Immediately after the tycoon’s election, the invitation from the Municipality of Ollolai to supporters of the US Democratic Party, disappointed by Kamala Harris’s defeat in the last presidential elections, caused a stir, ending up in many national and international media : “Move to us, we’ll give you houses for 1 euro”.
