62 million euros for works on Sardinian railway lines. This is the investment plan that received the green light from the regional council, with a resolution proposed by the councilor for transport, Giorgio Todde. The agreement between the Region, ARST and the Italian railway network to implement the interventions financed with the resources of the complementary fund of the NRP has been approved.

The routes are the historical ones of the Green Train: Isili-Sorgono, Mandas-Arbatax, Macomer-Bosa and Sassari-Tempio-Palau.

"The Green Train is a historical and identity heritage of Sardinia - comments the governor Christian Solinas - that the Region is relaunching and enhancing because it represents an important vehicle for promoting the image of the island and a source of development for the entire economy, not only for the territories in which the route falls. With these resources we will be able to enhance the service and further strengthen our already rich and diversified tourist offer ".

“The agreement with Arst and RFI - adds Councilor Todde - is part of a project for the overall relaunch of the activities of the Green Train that the council has been carrying out for some time. Our tourist railway network, in addition to representing an important cultural and historical point of reference, still has enormous potential for development in terms of tourism and also in terms of anti-depopulation and protection of the inland areas of the island. This massive investment plan will allow us to make the service more modern and efficient by promoting the environmental and naturalistic values and the most genuine aspects of Sardinia ".
