Massive participation in Sardinia in the national strike of railway workers promoted by Filt-Cgil, Fit-Cisl and Uiltrasporti. A mobilization for the renewal of the national labor contract and the renewal of the company contract of the FS Group.

According to the CGIL, the protest on the Island involved 80 percent of workers, with peaks that almost reached 100% among traffic workers (engineers, train managers, station managers and monitoring room workers). For users, it was a day of inconvenience, delays and cancellations. In fact, only the trains foreseen by law and those scheduled before the start of the strike, at 9, and at the end of the eight-hour strike, at 17, were guaranteed.

"But is it necessary to have a strike," polemically asks Arnaldo Boeddu, general secretary in Sardinia of Filt-Cgil, "to make the Ferrovie dello Stato group understand that there is a huge problem among the workers who have been waiting for over 16 months for the renewal of their contract?"

The company is therefore in the sights of the unions: «Workers and citizens who take the trains every day as well as tourists who come to our beautiful country, are all burdened by inconveniences due to a delaying attitude by the company, which demonstrates - Boeddu denounces - a total lack of responsibility».

"Despite the numerous meetings and the cooling-off procedures activated, the counterpart - underlines the regional secretary of Uiltrasporti, Mario Putzolu - continues to ignore the legitimate requests of the workers in the railway sector. For this reason, the workers are taking to the streets united to demand rights, dignity and contractual justice. Now is enough. It is time to act for a fair and dignified contract for all".
