From cinemas to reality. For the many fans of the Disney kingdom and beyond, the film "The Little Mermaid" - filmed in Sardinia - was decisive in choosing the location for their holidays .
«The success of the film is driving Northern Sardinia , we find a great interest in discovering the places where it was shot», declares Libero Muntoni , general manager of the Sardinian hotel chain Delphina hotels & resorts which has been a specialist in holidays in the north of the island for 30 years with 12 five and four star hotels, prestigious villas and residences overlooking the sea between the Costa Smeralda, the La Maddalena Archipelago and the Gulf of Asinara, in the towns of Cannigione, Palau, Santa Teresa Gallura, Isola Rossa and Badesi.

«To Sardinia's classic demand – continues Libero Muntoni – has been added that of film tourism with a growing demand coming not only from European countries and Italy, but also from the Americas. Here you can experience the magic of this timeless fairy tale through a program of activities in our facilities closest to the places in the film».
To welcome tourists are the coastal scenarios between Capo Testa and Castelsardo, for the variety of landscapes and for their still wild charm, between Caribbean beaches, cliffs and secluded bays, the backdrop for the new live action film by Walt Disney The Little Mermaid. “The water is the bluest, the rocks are the most beautiful I've ever seen. We found Sardinia in our dreams even before we got there» said John Myhre, screenwriter of the blockbuster film .

The journey to discover the locations of the film then stops in Santa Teresa Gallura, among the large granite boulders of the Capo Testa peninsula, to then continue westward along the jagged coast around Rena di Matteu in the municipality of Aglientu. This clear sand beach, with two small cliffs at either end facing crystal clear waters, was chosen for the scene of Ariel and Eric's carriage ride. Rena Majori, the long beach known for the sun dipping into the water at sunset, is instead the location of the iconic scene in which Ariel saves the prince from the storm. Then continue in a south-westerly direction to reach Castelsardo, a medieval village overlooking the Gulf of Asinara, used in part as the setting for Eric's castle.
