Almost 900 thousand passengers, between Sardinian ports and airports, in just eight days.

The traffic data in the airports and ports of Sardinia confirm the growth already recorded last July, also with reference to 2022 and the record season of 2019.

From 12 August to 20 August 2023 , the total air traffic in the three Sardinian airports was 458,497 passengers (Cagliari, 184,064; Olbia, 213,510; Alghero, 60,923) in the same period of 2022 it had been 442,528 while in 2019 it was 433,093. Arrivals (from 12 to 20 August 2023) totaled 221,822 (Cagliari, 89,590; Olbia 102,812, Alghero, 29,420). In the same period of 2022, arrivals had stopped at 209,415 and in 2019 they had been 215,453.

As for the ports, from 12 to 20 August of the current year, the total number of passengers transiting the island's docks (passenger ships only and excluding cruise passengers and yachts) was 432,040. In the port of Olbia alone there was traffic equal to 278,954 with 131,768 arrivals; in Porto Torres, traffic was 86,190 passengers with 40,296 arrivals; in Golfo Aranci 48,209 with 22,294 landings and in Cagliari 18,687 with 10,481 arrivals. In the same period of 2022, overall traffic had stopped at 424,876 passengers with 194,280 disembarks.

If we add up the total air traffic with that of ships, in the period 12-20 August 2023 we therefore reach the figure of 890,537 with 426,651 arriving passengers, against 867,404 and 403,695 arrivals in 2022.

"The numbers, even before the words - declared the Councilor for Transport, Antonio Moro - give credit to the efforts and commitment made by the regional administration to guarantee the greatest number of connections possible, such as to satisfy the mobility needs of Sardinians and the legitimate expectations of the tourism sector».

«On the occasion - concluded councilor Moro - I am anxious, without disregarding problems and criticalities, to highlight the commitment of the airlines to continuity services (the connections to and from the three Sardinian airports with Milan-Linate and Rome- Fiumicino) in implementing the number of flights between Sardinia and the mainland. It should be considered that the Ita airline in the period from 3 to 29 August 2023 scheduled 81 additional connections (69 new flights and 12 higher capacity aircraft) on the Cagliari-Rome, Cagliari-Milan and Alghero-Milan routes, while Aeroitalia, with the positioning of an additional carrier at the Olbia airport, was able to meet the increased demand for transport on the Alghero-Rome, Olbia-Rome and Olbia-Milan routes".
