Tour of Sardinia, on Friday Sorrentino starts from Marina Piccola

Then, for 59 days, the Sardinian sea will be Corrado Sorrentino 's office, ready for the biggest undertaking of his life, as always in memory of his missing daughter. He will swim around the island and raise funds that the association (Amelia Sorrentino Odv) will allocate to the pediatric oncohematology department of the Microcitemico of Cagliari.
The presentation (in the presence of the councilor for Sport Andrea Floris, because the Municipality of Cagliari wanted to give patronage to the operation) took place today at the Mediateca del Mediterraneo : "Departure on Friday at 9 from Marina Piccola, a more convenient time for those who want to attend, in the following days the departure will be at 8 ”, said the former Italian champion. “For the first few meters there will be Giulia, Amelia's cousin who will swim with me: she was a bit like her soul mate and I'm glad she can do the first part of the course with me. Sorrentino will be followed every day by a rubber dinghy and will be based on a camper. Along the way there are several appointments for fundraising . During the presentation he wanted to thank the sponsors who, in addition to the support, have guaranteed a donation for the charity, but also the Coast Guard who supports him especially for the most delicate passages, in the port areas, for example. And he announced that he will be ambassador of the MedSea Foundation that deals with the protection of the sea.
In all, it will be 700 kilometers of swimming (about 12 per day) for a huge sporting feat, for which Sorrentino has trained in recent months, even covering 105 km per week and 400 per month: "I wanted to temper my body for the difficulties physical and psychological that I will inevitably have to face ". All for the Microcitemico hospital, in the name of Amelia.
