Unless new developments occur, starting June 26th, the expiration of the administration and liquidation of the Zir Industrial Consortium, assets and personnel will be transferred to the Nuoro Provincial Industrial Consortium. This risks undermining the proposals focused on industrial planning, including the revitalization of the Tossilo area, as agreed upon a year ago in a meeting attended by Regional President Alessandra Todde and Industry Councilor Emanuele Cani. To prevent this eventuality, a council motion has been submitted, co-signed by minority councilor Gianfranco Congiu, along with councilors Rossana Ledda and Alessia Trogu.

The motion calls for the urgent need to reopen institutional dialogue on a strategic issue for the industrial area and the entire region. Specifically, it highlights the expiration of the commissionership, set for June 30, 2026, and the consortium's subsequent transfer to the management of the Nuoro Provincial Industrial Consortium, as already outlined in current regional legislation. Among the remaining unresolved issues are the revitalization of the industrial area, governance, economic and environmental sustainability, and the future of the Tossilo waste-to-energy plant. The motion therefore requests that the City Council formally address the issue, in order to define the actions and initiatives necessary to protect the interests of the region and ensure clarity on the future path.

The minority group's proposal was welcomed by Mayor Riccardo Uda, who pledged to promptly convene a dedicated City Council meeting entirely dedicated to the issue. The mayor also announced his intention to directly involve the regional councilors for the Environment and Industry, agreeing with them on the date of the meeting to foster direct and constructive institutional discussion. The goal is to bring the future of the Zir Consortium of Tossilo and the Macomer industrial area back to the center of the political agenda, ensuring transparency, participation, and clear planning for upcoming deadlines.
