The last appointment of the season. The most important one that the island will not miss by deploying its four flagships. The Absolute European Track Championships will be held in Munich from 15 to 21 August and Sardinia will see Filippo Tortu, Dalia Kaddari, Lorenzo Patta and Wanderson Polanco involved. The four sprinters will take part in the event that closes a thick 2022, for which 101 athletes representing Italy have been summoned.
They will take to the track with the blue jersey on and the flag of the Quattro Mori to be proudly waved: Tortu will be at the start on the 200 and in the 4x100, as well as the Kaddari. Both are returning from an excellent edition of the World Championships in Eugene where they distinguished themselves in the half lap of the track in which Tortu himself improved by touching the access to the final. For Kaddari, after the semifinal on the 200 at the World Championships and the splendid Italian record on the 4x100, a new great challenge to be honored in the best possible way. The Olympic champion Lorenzo Patta will not be missing for the 4x100, who this year signed his personal 20''91 at the Golden Gala in Rome, a race for which Wanderson Polanco was also called up in a great sprint on the 200 where he graduated as vice-champion of Italy, improving significantly thanks to a performance of 20''66 which allowed him to make a clear leap forward from a chronometric point of view.
The results speak for themselves, the wait is getting stronger every day and the conditions to stand out are not lacking. “We are returning from an important edition of the World Championships where our boys gave their best, behaving well '', commented the technical expert Fabrizio Fanni, Kaddari coach. “There will be a luxury parterre at the European Championships but we can have our say, carving out our space. What matters is to run as fast as possible, making the best of our potential in an event where Italy can do well. ''
