At the Stadio Comunale in Budoni, Cerbone's team excelled, defeating Torres 3-2 in a friendly, confirming their ambitions of a leading role in the Serie D championship. The Sassari team, however, lagged behind in terms of assimilation of the game and team spirit. Coach Michele Pazienza commented: "Budoni showed the grit and determination that we should have."

Torres was without Mastinu, who was sidelined as a precaution due to fatigue, and was replaced by Masala. The first half was a tense affair, but the Sassari team went into the break ahead thanks to Diakité's penalty in the 10th minute .

In the second half, Budoni increased their intensity even further: Santoro equalized from the penalty spot, and in the 60th minute, substitute Arangino put the home side ahead . Santoro scored the third goal again. Shortly before the end, new signing Di Stefano scored Torres' second goal.
