Who knows if it's a sign of destiny. On Sunday at the "Vanni Sanna", which many fans still call by its old name Acquedotto, Cesena arrives, newly promoted to Serie B, to face the vice-leaders of the group. Today marks the 121th anniversary of the foundation of Sef Torres where Sef stands for Physical Education Society. In fact, athletics, fencing and boxing were also practiced.
It was 19 April 1903 when 12 of them gathered in Vicolo Bertolinis to make a dream come true : Pasquale Ghera, Pietro Moro, Celestino Segni, Battista Delogu, Ruggero Rovasio, Giovanni Maria Sotgiu, Enrico Berlinguer, Claudio Andry, Ermenegildo Basso, Gianuario Marcellino, Gavino Berlinguer and Francesco Satta. They were professionals, lawyers, nobles, surveyors and traders. And even today the rossoblù fans cut across social and professional categories, because Torres is the city's team.
There have been 121 alternating years : joys, sorrows, exhilarating and prestigious moments, and also black pages stained by adventurers who were about to erase history, but Torres has been reborn several times like the Arabian phoenix from the ashes and today with a structured society and solidly prepares for the big match with Cesena, but above all to face the playoffs for promotion to that dreamed-of and never achieved Serie B. Until now.
