The Irish writer Colm Tóibín , who arrives in Italy with his new novel Long Island (Einaudi, 2025). Suad Amiry , a Palestinian architect, writer and activist, author of the famous Sharon and my mother-in-law (Feltrinelli, 2013), among others. Edoardo Albinati , one of the masters of Italian fiction, who will bring the very recent I figli dell'istante (Rizzoli, 2025).
These are some of the writers who have confirmed their presence for the 19th edition of the Sardinian Literary Festival “L'Isola delle Storie” which will be held in Gavoi from Thursday 3rd to Sunday 6th July.
For three days, the town in the heart of Barbagia will once again be a place of meeting and discussion, where writers, readers and readers gather around books, ideas and stories. An event that has been renewed and growing for nineteen years, keeping intact the spirit that has animated it since its origins: creating a shared space to think, listen and observe the present through the lens of literature.
Alongside the great names of literature, there will be no shortage of protagonists of Italian journalism, authoritative voices that every day help to read the complexity of the present. Beppe Severgnini, essayist, columnist, and historic signature of the Corriere della Sera, Maurizio Molinari, former director of La Repubblica, and Luca Misculin, a journalist of the Post expert on Europe and migrations, old and new, will arrive in Gavoi.
Also returning this year will be Chiara Valerio, a finalist last year at the Strega Prize, and the journalist Elvira Serra - recently published with her new novel Le voci di via del silenzio (Solferino, 2025) - both great friends of the festival.
Another return will also be that of Tlon - aka Maura Gancitano and Andrea Colamedici - who will curate an important novelty of this edition born from the collaboration with L'Isola delle Storie: the cycle Esercizi di meraviglie, designed to involve the new generations in a journey through different territories of knowledge, capable of revealing the enchantment hidden in the folds of everyday life and rediscovering that capacity for wonder that is the true engine of culture.
The festival will also continue to pay great attention to the younger audience, with a rich program of meetings and workshops curated by the Lughené Association. Among the first guests announced: Marco Magnone, author of essays and novels, partner and chief editor of the creative agency Book on a Tree, and Susanna Mattiangeli, author and illustrator, winner of the Andersen Prize for best writer in 2018.
