The standoff between the Region and the ordinary judiciary is getting worse. This afternoon, the Regional Council, on the proposal of Vice President Giuseppe Meloni, decided to appeal to the Constitutional Court against the State and the Court of Cagliari, after the ruling of May 28 that declared the governor's dismissal.

The decision follows the motion approved by the Regional Council on June 12, which urged the executive to take legal action against the court's decision. At the heart of the dispute is an alleged conflict of powers between the State's branches: according to the Region, the ruling would represent a violation of the institution's institutional prerogatives, usurped by the ordinary judiciary.

To support the appeal, the Region has entrusted its defense to a legal team composed of professors Omar Chessa and Antonio Saitta, assisted by the lawyers of the regional legal office Mattia Pani and Alessandra Putzu.
