"Meanwhile, I've made a pact with the citizens and the Sardinians: I have no ambition to return to a national context. I want to finish my term well and, if the conditions are right, truly break this tradition of alternating governments. So that's something we'll clearly see."
Sardinian Governor Alessandra Todde said this in an interview with ANSA. "Two years have passed, it feels like 10. So another three years is truly a long time to even assess the legislature," she explained. "I would like to reach a point where Sardinian citizens have regained confidence in the institutions' path forward, in the results they can bring to governing the island," she added. "Then, if the conditions are right, yes, I would like to serve a second term. And I think that's also normal: if citizens think we've done a good job, I think it's also normal to run again."
"One thing I've seen is that rotation is often used to hide the fact that things aren't changing. So this is something that shouldn't happen," Todde observed. "That is, if rotation is to exist, it must be a genuine rotation of policies and results, otherwise it becomes yet another way to deceive citizens. This is, however, an important thing. We must then evaluate the effects of the reforms, the effects of the policies on people's way of life, otherwise nothing really changes."
