This is how the President of the Sardinia Region, Alessandra Todde , reacts to the Government's decision to eliminate the payment of the tax for 2027 for some categories of vehicles and motorcycles.

"There's something Sardinian citizens need to know," he continues. "The stamp duty cut means less revenue for the regions and therefore fewer resources available to finance regional services and policies. We're talking about hundreds of millions of euros that could be diverted from regional planning, transportation, healthcare, and schools."

According to Todde, "It's easy to announce a tax cut when the money is being put up by others and the bill is passed on. That's why the question is very simple: who's really paying for the car tax cut and which services will have to forgo those resources."

"Sardinians will benefit from the car tax exemption, not just be penalized." This is how Ugo Cappellacci , president of the Chamber of Deputies' Social Affairs Committee, and Ivan Piras , regional councilor for Forza Italia, responded to statements made by Sardinia Regional President Alessandra Todde.

"This should be a positive development for the Region's leadership," they note, "and it's unfortunate that, instead of rejoicing, the President is stirring up controversy over nothing. The government has already guaranteed that the Regions' lost revenue will be compensated."
