To the great histrionic talent he combines the taste for satire and the analysis of reality, together with the characteristic, invisible on the scene, of a progressive blindness that has perhaps sharpened his sensitivity. Gianfranco Berardi, Ubu Award 2019, is the protagonist of "Amleto Take Away" staged at the TsE in Cagliari, the penultimate appointment of the Teatro Senza Quartiere Season organized by the Teatro del Segno.

The protagonist is an anti-hero, inspired by the Shakespearean character, "a symbol of doubt and insecurity, an icon of discomfort and inadequacy", as the actor explains, forced to deal with the precariousness of work and feelings and the dogma of 'appear in contemporary society.

An ironic and engaging show, written and directed together with Gabriella Casolari.

"The piece - continues Berardi - speaks of contemporary man and the difficulties he has today in living in this society, in this system, as prey to a confusion and insecurity that no longer leads him to question the meaning of things, but it scares and worries him: The question our Hamlet asks himself is: 'to be or to appear?'. That is, 'what is the use of elbowing and fighting against ourselves and the world around us to try to awareness and understanding your essence, when what matters is how you look? '".

Among autobiographical notes, from the discovery of the disease to the choice of theater, "to see, and show, through an inner gaze, what others do not see", as the actor suggests, the characters of the Elizabethan drama emerge.

"Shakespeare, especially with Hamlet, was for me a way to bring back to life something that stank of old - confesses Berardi - that seemed buried: that tradition that now seemed useless, outdated, abused and hired".
