The participation of up to 90% was the reflection of the very high concern that employees of Tiscali and the unions expressed yesterday during the two-hour strike at the end of each work shift.

Tonino Ortega, general secretary of Uilcom Sardegna, immediately denounced the lack of collaboration with the new management.

«The absolute absence of dialogue with the trade union organizations and the unilateral management, to the limit of the violation of the reference contract, have rapidly increased the concern of the workers for their employment future, leading them to a clear claim which represents a clear signal towards the top management so that together we can resume a path of sharing, transparency and respect and not just made up of trivial facade operations», explained the trade unionist.

The dispute began immediately after the merger by incorporation between Linkem and Tiscali which took place last August. The new ownership led by Davide Rota, who took over from Renato Soru (current President), has in fact completely canceled all forms of trade union dialogue, taking an incomprehensible and anti-historical position.

"After 5 months, the new management of the company of CEO Davide Rota has not yet presented the detailed industrial plan that demonstrates what industrial actions are to relaunch the new Tiscali in the context of telecommunications", added Ortega. «The latest unilateral reorganizations have instead recorded a process of annulment of the twenty-year professionalism of Tiscali workers and are increasingly moving all the company's management roles outside Sardinia. Tiscali is not an outsourced call center but a telecommunications company rich in knowledge and professional experience that must be valued and not set aside. The trade union organizations trust in a positive response from the company - concludes the secretary of Uilcom Sardegna - otherwise they will also entrust their requests and concerns for the future employment on the island to the institutions».
