Time to take stock for Porto Cervo Racing, a few days after the end of the 9th Rally Terra Sarda and with the lights on for the next edition: as many as 79 crews, coming from the peninsula and abroad, who competed between modern and historic Rally and sport regularity. The Rally Terra Sarda, valid as proof of the ACI Sport Zone Rally Cup, was therefore confirmed as an event that combined sport, culture and promotion of the territory. In 2022, the tenth edition of the race will be valid as a test of the TER Tour European Rally, an important international Series which, for the first time, will stop in Sardinia. The hotels, bed & breakfasts and accommodation facilities, both on the coast and in the interior, were sold out, confirming that the Rally Terra Sarda has contributed, also in this edition, to the success of the tourist seasonal adjustment.
Satisfaction. “We have achieved the goal: to promote sport, culture and the territory of Sardinia with a motoring event. These are important numbers for the Rally Terra Sarda which, also in this edition, received the applause of the crews and professionals. We are already working for the next edition which will be valid as a test of the TER Tour European Rally, an important international Series approved by the FIA which, for the first time, will stop in Sardinia ”. Thus Mauro Atzei, president of Porto Cervo Racing, at the end of the 9th Rally Terra Sarda (valid as proof of the ACI Sport Zone Rally Cup), the 1st Rally Terra Sarda Storico and the 1st Regularity Sport Terra Sarda, races held on asphalts della Gallura from 1st to 3rd October. “From a technical point of view, the race went very well”, Mauro Atzei continued, “we are satisfied, it was a great success. The organizational machine was perfect, I thank all the staff, now tested, and the many professionals, most of Sardinia, who have worked hard for the success of the race. A race well rooted in a territory involved at 360 degrees, supported by the Administrations that I thank, as well as the Sardinia Region, the Department of Sport, Tourism, and all the sponsors, from the first to the last, all of great importance, because organizing an event of this level means that behind it there is the support of many realities and many professionals. I hope that also in the future there will be this involvement and attention from many other important realities of our territory ".
The organization . The organizing staff (over 300 people) and almost eighty crews involved a total of about a thousand people who took advantage of the transport agreements thanks to the agreement between Porto Cervo Racing and the shipping companies and stayed in the facilities in the area.
The races . There were three, modern, historical and regular sporting Rally that involved ten municipalities: Arzachena and Tempio Pausania were the two poles of the "Rally Terra Sarda", with Arzachena hosting the Rally headquarters, while Palau, Aglientu, Luogosanto and Aggius were the other municipalities involved with the passage of the rally beyond Olbia, Sant'Antonio di Gallura, Santa Maria Coghinas and Trinità D'Agultu and Vignola who supported the event.
The commissioner. At the departure from Tempio Pausania, a great motor enthusiast, Andrea Biancareddu, regional councilor for Sport, did not want to miss this edition of the Rally: "We have done some promotion for the area and invested in these events scheduled in end of the season".
The winners. On a sporting level, the "9th Rally Terra Sarda" won by Maurizio Diomedi and Mauro Turati (Skoda Fabia R5), also crowned the winners of the ACI Sport Zone 9 Rally Cup (the national final will be held on the last weekend of October on the occasion of the 41st Rally city of Modena) and the ACI Sport Sardinia Delegation Rally Championship. Driver Maurizio Diomedi won the ACI Sport Zone 9 Rally Cup, while Marino Gessa and his co-driver Salvatore Pusceddu won the ACI Sport Sardinia Delegation Rally Championship.
