One thousand seven hundred jobs in the balance in Sardinia between direct (700) and indirect (1000) employees. In the background - the unions denounce - the hypothesis of sale and dismemberment contained in the TIM industrial plan which could be approved on 2 March.

In conjunction with the national strike called by Slc Cgil, Fistel Cisl and Uilcom, a hundred workers took to the streets in front of the Sardinian regional council in Cagliari. Flags, banners and megaphone speeches to ask for clarity on the future of the business and jobs.

In a letter sent to the groups and to the president of the regional council, the trade unions explained the reasons for the dispute, asking the region to stand alongside employees in defending their jobs. Especially in light of the digitization plan and the construction of the optical fiber network financed with funds from the NRP.

The trade unions are asking for the establishment of a single network entity under Tim governance and therefore avert the dismemberment of the Group: "Today, however - they explain in the letter to the regional councilors - we are faced with two companies, Tim and Open Fiber, which are owned by Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, which compete in the telecommunications market and a digitization plan managed by Infratel in 15 lots, of which the single subject can be awarded a maximum of 8 ".

The risk, underline the three acronyms, is the “construction of harlequin networks that will probably have difficulty in communicating with each other with important repercussions in the weakest areas such as Sardinia. A region already lagging behind, as evidenced by the fact that the Infratel lot provides for 67% of the civics to be wired with the new technology (FTTH) against a national average of 29% ”.
