On June 14, the Puddu family of Oliena celebrated its first thirty years in the bottle with a special label dedicated to the territory: Oliena Nepente DOC 2022.

It was 1975 when Giovanni Puddu, where his father owned a very small plot of land, started the 30-hectare Cannonau plant, merging 60 hectares of land at the foot of the Corrasi. After a few years, pigs were added to the vineyards first and then an important production of cured meats. Today the company is led by the founder's children: Nina, who also leads the Association of Sardinian Women of Wine, together with her brothers Francesco and Paolo.

With the anniversary of the first wine bottled by the company approaching, the Puddu brothers worked together with the oenologist Piero Cella on a wine that could best represent the freshness of this historic sub-area of Cannonau. During the presentation event, the chef from Oliana Salvatore Ticca, who moved to Paris a few years ago with his restaurant Shardana, accompanied the wines produced by the company with a journey through Sardinian cuisine with an international eye.

Francesco Puddu says: «It is an occasion to celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of our first bottled wine and we do it with a new wine that seeks to best represent our territory, from which it takes its name: Oliena, a fresh wine , fruit of a single vineyard that best represents the identity of the vine». Nina Puddu adds: «Today we are also presenting our hospitality project in the cellar, a structured wine tourism offer open all year round to welcome tourists and Nepente enthusiasts».

Today the Puddu company reaches a total production of one hundred thousand bottles, divided into seven different labels, where in addition to a single production of Vermentino, the remaining labels are all based on the Cannonau vine, with a market divided with a 50% Sardinia, 35% Abroad and the remaining 15% in Italy.
