The English writer Sophie Kinsella, 54, famous above all for the "I Love Shopping" saga, has brain cancer, has undergone surgery and is undergoing radiotherapy and chemotherapy.

She announced it herself with a message on social media: «I have wanted to share a health update with you for a long time and I was waiting for the strength to do so. In late 2022, I was diagnosed with glioblastoma, a form of aggressive brain cancer. I didn't share this before because I wanted to make sure my children were able to hear and process the news in privacy and adjust to our "new normal." I was treated by the excellent team at University College Hospital, London and underwent successful surgery, then subsequent radiotherapy and chemotherapy, which is still ongoing."

«At the moment everything is stable and in general I feel very good – she continues – although I feel very tired and my memory is even worse than before! I am so grateful to my family and closest friends who have been so supportive, as well as the wonderful doctors and nurses who cared for me. I am also very grateful to my readers for their constant support. The wonderful response to The Burnout has really encouraged me, at a difficult time." The Burnout is his latest novel, published in Italy by Mondadori with the title “Sono exhausted”.

«To all those suffering from cancer in any form – he concludes – I send love and best wishes, as well as to those who support them. It can make you feel very alone and scared to have a difficult diagnosis, and the support and care of those around you mean more than words can say. I'll get back to you soon, and in the meantime greetings from sunny London."
