It is an opportunity to learn about a tradition that stands the test of time and that recalls the strength and suggestions of a world that refuses homologation. Until August 10th, the exhibition dedicated to African wax fabrics can be visited in Via Principe Amedeo (at number 22).

It is a fascinating journey through the vibrant colors of fabrics that tell stories of the everyday life of women and men who are custodians of a great culture. It is an initiative of the "Alleviate poverty" association which promotes sustainable development projects in Morocco, Senegal, Tunisia and the Democratic Republic of Congo. The souls of this activity are Rosaria and Andrea Cadelano who have chosen to support the cause of small communities that are in great need of help.

«The exhibition - they explain - offers the opportunity to immerse yourself in the culture and tradition of a continent rich in symbolism and creativity. We are faced with an exceptional heritage that must be preserved."

Anne Grosfilley, probably the greatest expert on African fabrics, has reconstructed in a book the history of wax fabric, a tradition born in Indonesia and which gradually established itself in Africa. «The wax – clarifies Grosfilley – is certainly a symbol of the meeting between cultures, and has become an element of pan-African unity». The exhibition can be visited every day, except Sunday and Monday, from 11am to 1pm and from 6pm to 8pm. Entrance is free.
