The “Hot off the press” concert closes the 2023 “I Wednesday of the Conservatory” festival the day after tomorrow . The appointment is at 7 pm in the Sassu room of the Sassari musical institute with a sextet made up of the "Canepa" teachers: Massimo Carboni (sax tenor), Paolo Carta Mantiglia (clarinet), Antonio Pitzoi (guitar), Mariano Tedde (piano), Paolo Spanu (double bass) and Luca Piana (drums).

The program includes original pieces composed by the same artists ( Max the Max by Antonio Pitzoi, Alma by Paolo Spanu, Nereide and Ymir by Mariano Tedde), together with Invitation by Bonislaw Kaper (arrangement by Antonio Pitzoi) and two pieces by the Canadian trumpeter Kenny Wheeler , Gentle piece and Mark time .

The size of the sextet is halfway between the big band and a small formation: two wind instruments and electric guitar can sometimes constitute a small wind section, supported by the rest of the rhythm, or the guitar can take care of the harmonic or rhythmic texture together with the piano , offering many solutions both for studying a repertoire and for experimenting with a new one. Entrance is free and free .

This year, the Wednesday concert cycle offered a total of 30 events , a record for the festival, distributed between February and November and supported by an unprecedented turnout of the public.

The "Wednesdays" will return to the Sassu room in February 2024.
