For four days, Sorso will be transformed into a crossroads of creativity, reflection and shared beauty, thanks to the artistic residence “The forms of water between symbolism, rituality and culture”, scheduled from 3 to 6 July. An initiative that unites artists, territory and community in a lively and profound dialogue around one of the most symbolic and vital elements: water.

Curated by artists Maria Grazia Tuveri and Nicola Nadali, the residency will involve twelve artists in installations, performances, workshops and moments of public debate. Five of them will work closely with citizens in open spaces, while another seven will develop their projects inside the Residence Natura, an oasis surrounded by greenery where the natural environment becomes a source of inspiration and a tool for dialogue with collective memory.

It is no coincidence that this cultural experiment was born in Sorso , a town whose very name evokes fluidity, and which still today preserves sacred places of water such as the pond, the sea, the Billellera fountain and the evocative Sacred Well of Serra Niedda, witness to a millenary tradition shared with other civilizations of the Mediterranean.

The journey will begin on Thursday 3 July with the opening of the artistic laboratory at the Palazzo Baronale , where the performer Enya Idda and the multimedia artist Chiara Ligi will give shape to a participatory work on the theme of “We”.

At the same time, in Piazza San Pantaleo, the relational artist Antonella Muresu will begin the creation of a collective work entitled “Memorie dell'acqua”, made with fabrics donated by citizens: a poetic gesture that transforms discarded clothes into social fabric.

The following day, Friday 4th July, there will be performances and installations in the symbolic places of the town , from the Lavatoio Comunale to the Billellera fountain, passing through a second workshop meeting at the Palazzo Baronale. The day will close with a collective performance by the artists hosted in residence.

Saturday, July 5 will open with a new community involvement by illustrator and designer Monia Pala , while in the evening there will be the vernissage of the exhibition of artists in Residence, curated by art critic Valentina Calatri. The exhibition will be open until August 30, offering a continuous look at the dialogue between art and territory.

Grand finale on Sunday 6 July, at 8.30 pm, with a symbolic performance at the Sacred Well of Serra Niedda , a place full of spirituality, where Maria Grazia Medda will propose “Water binds us”, an artistic ritual of closure and connection.
