The shapes, colors, and lines tell the story of a world that is only apparently different. The perception of reality becomes confused, hiding within other images and other subjects in a game of interweavings between what appears and what actually is.

The seventh edition of Walls of Street Art at the Lazzaretto in Cagliari , starting tomorrow, Friday, September 25th, is a journey through the art of Michele Cara. Around one hundred works illustrate the theme chosen for the exhibition, "Materia Prima." And it is precisely "Materia Prima," reality, that the artist shapes and transforms with his pencils.

"The chosen theme, 'Materia prima', refers to the relationship we human beings have with the perception of what we call reality," explains Stefano Obino, director of the Cagliari Academy of Art and curator of the exhibition. "Just as two people looking at the same color perceive it differently, the same thing happens with the perception and conviction of a very personal reality. Michele Cara's work addresses and artfully embodies this process of translating everyday information. Reality always exists as an elaboration of our brain through the acquisition of entirely personal data. For Cara, reality is described by his pencils in the transposition of forms of shared awareness that transcend the world we believe we inhabit."

In her works, the artist breaks down the reality that surrounds us and reassembles it, presenting it in a different light, revealing to the observer that reality is only what each of us perceives, and that it can be different for each of us depending on our sensitivity and mood. Cara's pencils, by breaking down and reassembling the world around us, trace a new cognitive horizon and interpret reality by going beyond conventions and boundaries.

"Walls of Street Art. Materia Prima is not a simple exhibition or a visual compendium," the organizers explain. "It's an escape map. It demonstrates that the right pencil stroke is enough to shatter reality and allow us, finally, to walk beyond the wall."

The exhibition, organized by Rti Coop Sant'Elia 2003 and the Cagliari Art Academy, will open on Friday at 6:00 PM and will remain open daily from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM and from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM until October 11. Michele Cara will also be present at the opening, where he will explain his art and worldview to visitors.
