The Senate approved the budget, which now moves to the Chamber of Deputies for consideration. There were 110 yes votes, 66 no votes, and two abstentions. The Budget Amendment Bill was also approved: the vote, which came shortly before the final vote on the budget, received 110 yes votes, 62 no votes, and only one abstention.

The budget is worth "around €22 billion," said Economy Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti. The total amount, initially €18.7 billion, "has increased," the minister explained, "because with the latest major amendment, we've integrated the allocations for Transition 5.0, the Economic and Social Security Zone, and price adjustments."

"What I'd like to emphasize is that we've addressed issues that seemed almost impossible ," he added. "Taxing just 5% of contractual increases was something the unions had always been calling for, and we've done it for lower-income employees. I also believe taxing productivity wages at 1% is symptomatic of the direction we need to go. So, it's truly a positive outcome that demonstrates once again how the entire government supports the approach we set three years ago."
