The Sebastiano Satta Foundation is born: Alessandra Corrias appointed president

With these words, inspired by a recent speech by Robert De Niro at the Cannes Film Festival, Alessandra Corrias, the new president of the Sebastiano Satta Foundation for Public Reading, inaugurated her role on social media, entrusting her Facebook page with a message of gratitude and civic commitment.

"'Thank you' is one of my favorite words and today it is with this word that I want to begin", wrote Corrias . "Thank you to the President of the Region Alessandra Todde and the Councilor for Culture Ilaria Portas, who wanted and made possible the establishment of the Foundation, finally giving the Satta Library the conditions to return to the center of cultural life in Nuoro and Sardinia. Thanks to the Council for the trust, and to the regional councilors of the territory. Thanks, finally, to all the people who in these hours are encouraging me with hope and affection".

With the resolution approved yesterday by the Regional Council, the historic Satta Library of Nuoro is transformed into a public law participation Foundation . The Sardinia Region participates as a founding member, allocating 100,000 euros for the initial fund and providing an annual contribution for management, to be defined with the budget law. To this will be added the transfer of assets and resources already in the hands of the outgoing consortium.

The first Board of Directors is composed of Carmelino Meazza (University of Sassari), Efisio Ignazio Putzu (University of Cagliari), Giovanni Pirisi (municipal commissioner of Nuoro), Giancarlo Porcu (Province of Nuoro) and Alessandra Corrias for the Region, who will also assume the presidency.

For Corrias, who has been active in cultural promotion in Nuoro for years, this is a significant challenge: to lead the relaunch of the city's most important cultural institution, transforming it into a dynamic center of reading, memory and innovation .
