The Sardinian economy is recovering: in the third quarter of 2022 the active companies in Sardinia increased compared to the same period of the previous year.

According to the data processed by the regional statistics office , the situation on the island registers +0.7%, a figure in contrast with the national trend (-0.8%) and better than in the South (+0.2%). . Exports also did well in the January-September 2022 period.

«The Sardinian GDP which in 2021 returns to increase after the collapse of 2020, the encouraging data on exports recorded in 2022 which demonstrate the movement of goods from Sardinia, the important signs of recovery on the employment front comfort us and are a stimulus to continue the important action to accompany the system towards recovery - explains the President of the Region, Christian Solinas - The data testify to the system's ability to recover part of the market shares that the pandemic had penalized and in some cases reduced".

According to the data elaborated by the Regional Statistical Office on Movimprese - Unioncamere source , in the third quarter of the year the number of active enterprises was equal to 146,141 . In 2021 they were   145,192 businesses in operation, while in 2020, the year of Covid, the bar had stopped at 143,822. In 2019, and even earlier in 2018, there were around 143,000 active companies in absolute terms .

The dynamics of the artisan enterprises was positive, with slight growth (+0.3%) and in contrast with the Italian figure (-1.1%).

The signals arriving on the foreign trade front in 2022 are also good (processing by the Regional Statistical Office on Istat - Coeweb data, statistics on foreign trade): the trend is on a trend basis, although it mainly depends on the import-export of petroleum products ( which occupies a slice equal to 86% of the total volumes exported and 75% of those imported), is also positive in relation to other sectors more linked to the local economy .

In detail, looking at the incidence of the value of Sardinia's "non-oil" exports on the total of "non-oil" economic activities - therefore net of oil, gas, coke and products deriving from oil refining - in the period from January in September 2022 the first two sectors that have the greatest relative weight, i.e. chemical products (21% of the "non-oil" total) and food (17% of the "non-oil" total), grew respectively by 13% and 8.2% compared to the same period of 2021.
