Among the protagonists of the "Sardegna in rende" festival that takes place in Switzerland, there will also be the Sardinian Dop thorny artichoke. In Lugano, from March 13 to April 3, the ninth edition of the review will be staged during which the Swiss will be able to taste the specialties of the island's food and wine at the L'argentino restaurant which promotes the event in collaboration with the Artichoke Protection Consortium spinoso di Sardegna PDO directed by Carlo Cherchi and by that of Sardinia PDO extra virgin olive oil.
"It will be offered alone, or combined with the smoked Cabras mullet from the Mare Pontis cooperative, with octopus, molluscs, Sardinian lamb, pecorino from the dairy of the Nulvi cooperative", explains chef Angela Murgia, a member of the Consortium and at the helm of the initiative together with Simone Barraco, chef from Argentina. "Again - continues Murgia - declined in its thousand textures, raw in salads, fried, in oil, in cream, candied and as a filling for fried ravioli".
For Carlo Cherchi it is an opportunity "to make known the goodness of our products, artichoke in the first place, but with a synergy with other products with a geographical indication, such as the Sardinian DOP extra virgin olive oil". The owner of the restaurant L'Argentino, born in 1979 in Breganzona, Lugano, is Salvatore Nieddu, the son of Sardinian restaurateurs, ambassador of Sardinian food and wine culture in Switzerland.
