The Rural District of Sassarese and the Gulf of Asinara was born in Sassari. With the ok to the deed of incorporation, the District officially starts, which sees Coldiretti Nord Sardegna among the founding members together with the Municipalities of Sassari, Stintino, Porto Torres, Sorso and Sennori, with the ITS and the contribution of the Sardinia Regional District Bio.

The path was born in recent months by the promoters who wanted to launch the activation of the new subject which aims to support productions, in particular organic and local companies.

THE OBJECTIVES - Among the actions that the District will be able to implement, there are those aimed at improving product quality, but also at promoting the concentration of supply, the reduction of production costs, the regularization of prices and the use of production standards that respect the environment as well as promote biodiversity. The promotion of production regulations with relative quality marks is also envisaged to enhance and protect production, protecting and spreading agriculture as a cultural project and as a model of sustainable and supportive economy. Among the other objectives there are also those for the promotion of agriculture and eco-compatible choices both in the food and non-food sectors; the inclusion of food and agricultural products in the various distribution channels and in public and private collective catering and the promotion of the growth and development of sustainable tourism, also linked to quality food production and other activities related to the protection of 'environment.

The Governing Council is made up of the president, Battista Cualbu, and the councilors Rita Vallebella; Gabriel Mulas; Elena Cornalis; Massimo Mulas; Andrea Campurra; Pasquale Tanda and Federico Basciu.

PROMOTION AND PROTECTION – «A path that we strongly wanted to support is coming to an end because we are convinced that the District will be able to implement new actions and ideas that promote and enhance the productions, especially the organic and typical ones - underlines Battista Cualbu - furthermore it will be possible to help the enterprises and producers with services in the field of protection, promotion and information».

"It is one more opportunity - he concludes - to bring together subjects involved in organic production and the agri-food sector in a perspective of supply chain and territorial collaboration".

"As an administration, both the political and the managerial part, we have spent a lot to be able to achieve this goal, in collaboration with the other promoters - comments the councilor for programming of the Municipality of Sassari, Gabriele Mulas , who has followed the project since the its origins - we hope that the creation of the District and the activities that will be implemented will bring important opportunities for growth for the already existing companies and for the others that will be able to settle in all the territories of the Municipalities involved and in particular in the Nurra, thus bringing it back to its ancient and original rural and agricultural vocation».

Furthermore, according to Andrea Campurra (Sardinia Bio District), «this new District is an important opportunity for the area and for companies . Our regional District immediately took the opportunity to join the project to create a network between Districts and a stronger synergy in the agricultural sector with particular attention to Bio».
