Already in the nineteenth-century Angius-Casalis geographical historical dictionary the presence of Roman wells in the Canabis locality is highlighted: important, built with sandstone blocks, with a cross-shaped roof with a square base, from their lateral opening the people of Assiminesi went to draw water for home use . An archaeological cultural heritage of great value which is currently in a state of evident degradation .

Alongside those wells, in the first half of the 20th century, a building was built which for a long time was used as a bar , a refreshment point adjacent to the gardens of Canabis, now in ruins.

«Of that dilapidated structure - declares Luigi Garau (coordinator of Psd'Az) remains an unsafe and half-demolished building . Alongside also a cabin with an electric contactor and the 4 cross wells, three covered by a metal framework closed with a padlock and one by a layer of cement». «The degradation - continues Garau - is evident not only due to the work of the vandals, but also due to the state of abandonment in which it finds itself. That site should also be protected by the Superintendence itself , made visible and usable, restored to the splendor it deserves. If Assemini wants to present itself as a tourist city, in the future, it must bring to light all the identity assets».
