After months of anticipation, the special commission on energy begins its work today. The parliamentary committee has just been sworn in. As agreed, Stefano Tunis (Sardegna al Centro 20Venti) was elected president. His deputy is M5S councilor Gianluca Mandas.

"The key point that must not be overlooked remains the battle against speculation , the enemy of Sardinia's future," the new president commented immediately. "But we certainly need to consider an energy configuration and energy's contribution to Sardinia's development, which hasn't been possible to include on the agenda at this time. We must all work together to pursue a common goal: clean energy, not prey to speculators, and a key driver of development for our business system and families."

Tunis also raised the issue of the certainty of the authorization procedures for renewable energy plants: "Right now, one piece of information the Council is lacking is understanding the permitting status. We feel there's a significant slowdown. A series of initiatives have been authorized by the Council of Ministers (in consultation with the Regional Council). Naturally, the Regional Council will have to start from the current state of the art to envision a configuration with a time horizon of at least thirty years."

Will there be room to give the committees a voice? "Their proposal (Pratobello 24, ed.) is already flawed in the standing committees, and we don't intend to overlap," Tunis recalls. "It will certainly be interesting to bring that spirit back into the Council. The relationship between the Sardinians and their environment isn't a whim; rather, it should be seen as a valid and motivating factor in our commitment."

For Mandas, the priorities must be to address the issue of energy in a special and extraordinary way, especially in terms of planning and programming.
