The Ramblas of Barcelona invaded by Sardinia: on 9 October 500 will parade
Sixty municipalities represented thanks to the “Navigantes” cultural exchange projectProbably no one has ever seen the Ramblas like this, crowded with masks and traditional Sardinian clothing. In Barcelona, on October 9th, 500 will parade, thanks to the "Navigantes" project, conceived and implemented by the Maria Carta Foundation, with the support of the Region and the Municipality of Alghero.
From 3pm, the most famous street in Catalonia will be invaded by the colors of the island, with sixty different municipalities represented, selected with the support of Ufi, the Italian Folkloric Union, and Fitp, the Italian Federation of Popular Traditions. Among the groups present, the Mamuthones of Mamoiada stand out, but also the Tamburini of Oristano and the Dalerci musical band of Alghero.
Music, in fact, will be the protagonist, from the launadda to the accordion, passing through the tenor singing of Bitti, Oliena and Orgosolo. «We are ready to travel by sea with our identity», explains Leonardo Marras, president of the Maria Carta Foundation. «The sea, after all, was the road that took our grandparents and great-grandparents out of Sardinia in search of work and fortune. Today we travel with the strength of our identity represented by our colours, our sounds and our most authentic songs."
The Italian consul will also participate in the event, and representatives of the Sardinian Club of Barcelona will be present: «"It is a great operation of cultural exchange, friendship and brotherhood between the Sardinian and Catalan people", claims the president of the Region Christian Solinas. «The sea, which for millennia has represented an obstacle to the rest of the world, becomes a track, or rather a highway to connect peoples and cultures, to create and strengthen friendship and solidarity between peoples. I am sure that Navigantes will be the spark of a renewed exchange and meeting between Sardinians and Catalans."
