From October to December, the TenAcademy will be launched in Nuoro, the first experimental section of the Giovani per Nuoro project, promoted by Teatro di Sardegna with the support of the Region, the patronage of the Municipality of Nuoro, in synergy with the Lariso social cooperative and Mousiké Live.
The initiative was born with the aim of giving young people an active and creative role in the cultural life of the city and the surrounding area , and transforms spaces and intergenerational relationships into permanent laboratories of cultural citizenship.
The program currently includes 9 training courses totaling over 400 hours of activities, led by more than 30 regionally and nationally renowned teachers, professionals, and artists. The TenAcademy will be a creative space that will engage students, young people, adults, schools, and communities, with a potential audience of hundreds of participants.
"I think there's a growing demand in Nuoro for theater, which has not only a cultural value, but also a strictly educational one," says Mayor Emiliano Fenu.
TenAcademy's programs, specifically, include: an intensive workshop on performance languages titled "Alphabets of the Scene," a multidisciplinary workshop titled "The Other Stage," and "Su toccu pasau" (a community translation with schools) to mark the fiftieth anniversary of Salvatore Satta's death, in conjunction with the production of the second act of the "Judgment Day" trilogy by Teatro di Sardegna, which will involve classes from three high schools. These programs are complemented by "Dressing the Scene," an intergenerational tailoring and creative program led by Viviana Pes and Valentina Deriu of Desacré. Other programs include: the intensive course "Cinema from Theory to Practice," a rap writing and music workshop with Bakis Beks, "Rap the Book," and a performative investigation into the world of adolescence led by Livia Gionfrida with the Metropopolare collective in collaboration with Operatività di strada of the Lariso cooperative, titled "Supersonica." Finally, there is a comics workshop "The Dance of the Crows," and a creative workshop for children and teens, "The Art of the Mask."
"The theater project launched in Nuoro is an extraordinary testament to how culture can transform life," says Regional Councilor for Education Ilaria Portas. The initiative is supported by the Municipality of Nuoro, which is committed to promoting the active participation of young people. "The TenAcademy project represents a virtuous example of how culture can act as a lever for social cohesion and individual growth, especially for the younger generations," emphasizes City Councilor for Education Domenico Cabula .
A concrete investment, as Lariso President Silvio Obinu states: "We see the TenAcademy as a good opportunity to implement the cultural welfare project that has always been at the heart of our work in the city and region." The general director of Sardegna Teatro, Massimo Mancini, highlights the connection with the local area: "Now more than ever, we need to create spaces where culture isn't just consumption, but a shared practice. Where art is a way to live together in the present. This is the right time. And Nuoro could be the right place."
