The Municipality of Porto Torres will host a stage of the international event of the "Rotta dei Fenici" scheduled for autumn 2023. In recent days, with a delegation composed of the president of the municipal council, Franco Satta, and the president of the Culture commission Antonello Cabitta, participated in the 2023 General Assembly of this cultural itinerary of the Council of Europe which took place in Fano.

The Phoenicians' Route is one of the forty-eight international cultural itineraries forming part of the Council of Europe Programme. The central theme of the Phoenicians' Route is the intercultural dialogue in the Mediterranean between the communities that hosted ancient civilizations, from the Phoenician era to the Republican age of the Roman Empire. Historical realities that contributed, through processes of cultural cohesion, to creating the foundations of what would later become the contemporary Euro-Mediterranean civilization.

The Municipality of Porto Torres is participating in this initiative with a project to enhance the Asinara Island, now a National Park, and the Roman city of Turris Libisonis.

At the end of the meeting in Fano, presidents Satta and Cabitta expressed satisfaction with the progress of the works: «We are taking part in this process because we believe that Porto Torres can play an important role within these itineraries in the Mediterranean, its historical, architectural and naturalistic heritage. We thank the Mont'e Prama Foundation for its willingness to play as a team and to enhance our city in the context of the next international assembly scheduled in Cabras».
