The winners of the 20th edition of the Maria Carta Prize, which will take place on 4 September in Siligo, the birthplace of the artist who died in 1994, have been decided by the Scientific Technical Committee of the Maria Carta Foundation.

The Prize will be awarded to Grazia Di Michele, a singer-songwriter who has characterized the Italian songwriting with "an extraordinarily personal imprint, innovating it with new themes and civil commitment".

Recently the Roman artist has also brought to the Italian stages a show in which he pays homage to Marisa Sannia, proposing in a refined way the repertoire of her last period.

Another prize will be awarded to the most significant instrument of the Sardinian musical heritage, the launeddas. A recognition that goes to the entire world of players and builders of this instrument and to the communities where it is most deeply rooted.

The Maria Carta award does not forget, even on this occasion as in the past, the activity of emigrants in promoting the island and its culture abroad. Another recognition therefore goes to the "Amici Mediterranei" club in Arnhem, representing the more than 15 thousand Sardinians present in the Netherlands.

The award for the excellence of the island's economic and entrepreneurial world goes to Sardex, the company born in Serramanna for the concrete support offered to local businesses in difficulty, thanks to the creation of a complementary currency based on trust and community. A Sardinian excellence exported successfully, today a reference at European level.
