FestivalPunk returns to Cheremule on July 18th, a festival organized by a spontaneous group of young locals with the aim of showcasing emerging Sardinian bands and providing a space for music and fun.
This year's festival features six bands, and in addition to newcomers, there will be bands that have shaped the history of punk on the island. At the same time, the goal is to promote Cheremule, the small gem of Meilogu located on the slopes of Mount Cuccuruddu.
The Punk Festival is an opportunity to visit the historic center with Pina Monne's murals, the pine forest, the "Su Tippiri" woods, and the UNESCO World Heritage archaeological site of the Petroglyph Park.
The idea was born from the intuition, collaboration, and determination of a group of friends: Gabriele, Danilo, Angelo, and Simone. At the heart of this project is the desire to give space and visibility to young and emerging bands, creating a bridge between the past and present of the Sardinian punk scene through the participation of historic and established bands from the island.
In 2025, the festival took place in the municipal pine forest and hosted performances by Giampaolino Nuvoli, Onda Rock and Mad-Dog.
On July 18th, the festival kicks off at 7:30 pm in the square outside the former Fox Pub with a performance by "Gli Scordati," a band from Thiesi who has prepared a special lineup for the occasion. The festival continues with the punk sound of the young "Warsawia," live from Olbia.
The third band to perform hails from Macomer: "Iskassiados" will get everyone dancing with their ska-punk sounds. It's the turn of "Instinct and Pain," formed in the summer of 2023 in Ghilarza, in the province of Oristano. Luca is on bass, Nicola on drums, and Alessandro on guitar and vocals. The album is a mix of post-punk and goth, harking back to '80s bands like Bauhaus, Joy Division, and the Cure (bands they particularly love). The lyrics address themes of loneliness, anger, frustration, and feeling trapped in a way of life that often—too fast-paced and too inequal—isn't ours.
The fourth group hails from Sassari and is one of the most interesting of the Sassari underground: “Vulika Rot” who, among other summer stages, will grace the prestigious Abbabula festival.
The tour concludes with "Inarrestabili," a punk rock band formed in Sardinia in 2005. For twenty years, they've been bringing their music to the stage with the same passion and spirit as their early days. In 2026, they'll celebrate their 20th anniversary with the "Per chi ci ama, per chi ci odia" tour, which will take them to Sardinia, Spain, and Northern Italy.
