Over three million passengers passed through the Isola Bianca port of Olbia in 2022: a number that makes the Gallura port the first in Italy in terms of number of passengers, with an increase of 1.7% on the data recorded in 2019, the year before Covid is the most reliable one to make comparisons.

Behind Olbia is Livorno with 2.8 million passengers.

The quantity of goods transported increased by 8.1%, again compared to 2019, with a total of 5.8 million tons.

Olbia is therefore confirmed as the logistics hub of Sardinia as regards the trade of local products such as cheese, cork, wines and manufactured goods, and for the presence of numerous qualified companies operating in logistics, most of which are based in the industrial consortium's production district of northeastern Sardinia and Gallura.

The second port is that of Cagliari-Sarroch with 4.3 million tons of goods on ferries, even if the Cagliari port, with liquid bulk such as oil, solid bulk such as coal and goods in containers, is by far long the first cargo port of Sardinia with 30.7 million tons.

The data was released by the Cipnes Study Centre, which worked on the basis of the new statistics published by Assoporti for last year.
