Still life is Domenico Dore 's favorite genre, a theme historically linked to Vanitas and Memento mori, silent reminders of the transience of human existence. The Sassari painter's exhibition, titled "Domenico Dore. Chronotypes ," will open on Wednesday at 5:30 pm in the Sala Duce of the Ducal Palace in Sassari.
The exhibition, open until April 8, is promoted by the Ars Aurelia association and curated by Antonio Ottavio Cattari and Luca Poddighe.
Born in 1954, Domenico Dore has had numerous successful exhibitions in Italy and abroad. In recent months, he has shown in Rome, Paris, Florence, and Berlin. "His work exudes an enchanted atmosphere, reflected in the soft tones and perspective, suggesting a suspended, dreamlike space," say the curators. These stylistic choices are extremely effective in conveying the fluidity of the passage of time and the seasons of life.
The artist's canvases convey the specific forms in which the ideas of pause and escape from reality manifest themselves at different moments in life, translating into images that reveal tensions, desires, and fragilities.
The opening evening will be enriched by the musical performance of Beatrice Melis with her harp, and by the collaboration of Cantina Mario Bagella and the Accademia Culinaria del Coros di Fausto Tavera .
The event is part of the "Aspettando Nessun Dorma" program, the first preliminary performance of the Nessun Dorma 2026 Festival of the Association Ars Aurelia.
