The 2025 Nobel Prize in Literature has been awarded to the writer and screenwriter László Krasznahorkai .

Among his novels are Satantango , finalist for the Gregor Von Rezzori Prize and the European Strega Prize 2017, Melancholy of Resistance , The Return of Baron Wenckheim , winner of the National Book Award for Translated Literature in 2019, War and War and Seiobo is Descended Here , all published in Italy by Bompiani.

The Royal Swedish Academy recognized him "for his compelling and visionary work that, in the midst of apocalyptic terror, reaffirms the power of art."
