The Moby Legacy left China today and will arrive in Italy at the end of January and will enter service on the Livorno-Olbia route alongside its "sister" ship Moby Fantasy.

The Moby group took delivery of it from the Chinese shipyard Guangzhou Shipyard. Alessandro Onorato and the family's historic manager Matteo Savelli were present for the company at the ceremony.

At the helm of the ferry, also characterized by the blue whale painted on the side, is the commander Massimo Pinsolo.

After the Fantasy, it is the second largest passenger ferry built so far in the world: 441 cabins, 400 seats, a capacity of 3 thousand passengers and 1,300 cars or 300 trucks. 237 meters long and 33 meters wide, it has a gross tonnage of 69,500 tons and can travel at a cruising speed of 23.5 knots with peaks of 25.

The two "twin" ships will allow the Moby group to increase capacity towards Sardinia, one of the most requested destinations. Cutting-edge from an environmental point of view, it is capable of reducing Co2 emissions by 50% compared to ferries currently used on similar lines. Designed to be powered by LNG, it can also receive power from shore, thus ensuring zero emissions, when the facilities on the quay are available.
