Matteo Corrado's "Mercante Di Stoffe" will be one of the catalysing events among the many proposed by the calendar of celebrations in honor of San Francesco which will be held in the Sanctuary at the gates of Lula.
A calendar full of ideas that presents the musical on the history of the Saint of Assisi on Thursday 4 May at 20.00 in the courtyard, in front of the church. The show, entirely written and edited by Matteo Corrado, actor, choreographer and author of theatrical texts of Lulese origins, reproposes in a poetic and musical key some moments of the first twenty years of Francesco's life who, born into a family of cloth merchants , this was the job of his father Pietro da Bernardone, he abandoned to dedicate his life to the service of God.
His life as a preacher, alternating with flashbacks recalling his past as a rich young man destined to become a knight, is told through the fabrics, whose colors simply evoke the everyday life lived by the young Francesco. Matteo Corrado has maintained strong relations with the Lulese community which gave birth to his mother Gina.
Place of the soul, where he spent his childhood in the home of his grandparents and great-grandparents, once custodians of the Shrine to which he feels intimately linked: «To be able to present here, in this extraordinary place, my show is an honor for me and a source of great joy - these are Matteo's words - I wrote it during the lockdown with the hope of being able to take it to Sardinia one day".
The next show of Il Mercante di Stoffe will be repeated in Siniscola.
