Yet another sold out at the Teatro di San Gavino closed the triumphant tour of the show “L'Illusione coniugale” , a brilliant comedy by Eric Assous masterfully interpreted by an exceptional trio composed of Rosita Celentano, Attilio Fontana and Stefano Artissunch who directed and also collaborated on the translation of the original text entrusted to the care of Giulia Serafini.

On stage for five dates as part of the program of the Prose Season organized by CeDAC / Circuito Multidisciplinare dello Spettacolo dal Vivo, chaired by Antonio Cabiddu and directed by Valeria Ciabattoni, the play, produced by Synergie Arte Teatro, was welcomed by an enthusiastic audience that showed sincere involvement by applauding the performers openly and punctuating the most hilarious moments with loud laughter of appreciation.

Almost two hours of great theatre with biting irony, brilliant ideas, comical jokes and biting clichés that give rhythm but at the same time moments of psychological insight without the heaviness of a specialist session.

The brilliant reinterpretation by Artissunch, proudly from Alghero despite the surname not suggesting a proper island origin, sums up the text creating an enjoyable story, at times even mischievous, on the importance of love and the value and meaning of marriage in the era of chats and social media.

Throwing away their masks, Giovanna and Massimo find themselves having to deal with a relationship based on lies and worn out by betrayal, where the reasons why they had chosen to marry and live together swearing respect and fidelity now seem forgotten, faded and confused in the grayness of a routine in which affection and tenderness resist, and perhaps even the fire of ancient passion, but now obscured by the pain of the wounds on the soul.

In the dialogue woven with accusations and recriminations, admissions of guilt and attempts at self-defense, Claudio also inserts himself, in spite of himself, in the role of hypothetical lover of the wife and therefore rival of the husband: a representative of the male universe very different from his friend, both in temperament and in principles, almost his opposite, as if to symbolize a possible alternative and perhaps a more evolved, reasonable and civilized model but also grappling with the rules of a ruthless and competitive society.

"L'Illusione Coniugale irreverently addresses the delicate issue of betrayal within the marital relationship - explains Stefano Artissunch - The show emphasizes the importance of communication and mutual understanding between spouses by lightly addressing the complex network of interactions and influences between the characters who each bring with them their own emotions, together with needs and expectations. The audience is invited to think about the fragility of relationships and the importance of addressing problems openly, even if this can lead to moments of embarrassment and confusion tempered in the text by Assous' typical irony".

"I face this challenge with great enthusiasm - says the director and actor from Alghero - and I hope it will lead to unique and engaging interpretations. I think that a bold and creative approach can make the theatrical experience even more memorable for the spectator. Transmitting passion for art and theater is an aspect that I care a lot about: I am always anxious to meet the audience to understand how my creation will be received".

Judging by the public's affection, Artissunch will be able to return to the Peninsula happy with the success paid by the island audiences.

A well-deserved recognition to share with the pair of protagonists.

Rosita Celentano and Attilio Fontana seem to be the perfect interpreters: talented, elegant, beautiful and charismatic, in life and on stage, they bring to the stage action a very credible picture of life in which each spectator can recognize himself.

Rosita Celentano, jokingly called “the professional” at the end of the show in the farewell greetings of the protagonists, had already addressed the topic of betrayal in a best-selling book “Thank God I Have Horns” published in 2009 by Salani Editore.

A life experience that he transferred to the stage with superlative skill and spontaneity, supported by a brilliant Attilio Fontana, a multifaceted personality making his acting debut on the island but known to the Sardinian public for his parallel career as a singer and composer that also saw him as the protagonist in an edition of the Sanremo Festival, that of 1997, in the Boy Band “Ragazzi Italiani”, the Italian answer to Take That.

After the thunderous applause at the end of the show, Artissunch launches a funny sketch in which the trio carries out a funny survey on the different dialect expressions of the symbol of betrayal. The final result is as comical as the tenor of the show: a successful survey.
